Two people, a man and a child, are smiling and working together on a construction site outdoors in winter. The man is wearing a gray beanie and a tan hoodie, and the child is wearing a white hat and a dark jacket, with snow on the ground and a partly cloudy blue sky in the background.

Stone Hunter has been building in the Roaring Fork Valley since 2018

Born west of Loveland, Colorado, Stone grew up helping his father do stone masonry, attending a waldorf school, and became interesting in natural building during his Biodynamic Farming apprenticeship at Sustainable Settings, in Carbondale Colorado, in 2015. After helping cut a timber frame there and subsequently moving to Paonia in 2018 to help build a load bearing straw bale home designed with spiritual architecture principles, he kept building homes in the valley with Skyhawk Construction, then Northfork Carpentry, and finally started his own company in 2026 before he built a custom, 1500sq ft straw bale home for his mother in Paonia.
